Five-colour enamel over porcelain, painted by hand. A day's work in one bowl.
Benjarong means five colours. The enamel is applied over the glaze and fired again, one colour at a time, each firing risking the piece.
This is court porcelain — it was made for the Siamese palace before it was made for anyone else. One bowl takes a painter the better part of a day, which is the entire explanation for the price.

Crackle-glazed green. Fired in Chiang Mai the way it has been since Sukhothai.
