Jim Thompson revived the Thai silk industry in the late 1940s and then disappeared in the Cameron Highlands in 1967. The company kept going and still weaves in Pak Thongchai, Nakhon Ratchasima.
A plain cover is the honest test of a silk — nothing to distract from the slub and the way the colour shifts as you cross the room. Eighteen inches square, insert not included.
